AgriNovus Indiana will release their new talent study – Indiana Agbiosciences: Ensuring a sustainable workforce for our future – at the Thursday, October 27th Frameworx session presented by BioCrossroads and AgriNovus Indiana from 8:00-10:00 a.m. at D’Amore in Indianapolis.

Many of the most pressing challenges facing humankind have solutions rooted in the agbiosciences industry. There is no other arena of economic activity, or field of science and innovation, that so directly addresses our survival and quality of life, global economic development, and prospects for an environmentally sustainable future.

Despite an overwhelming need for innovation in this sector, the U.S. faces an agricultural workforce shortfall over the next five years. For 58,000 job openings in predicted in the U.S. food and agriculture industry only an average of 35,400 new U.S. graduates will be available to fill these positions, leaving almost 40 percent of the available jobs open.

In the next Frameworx session, you will hear much more about the talent and workforce challenges Indiana faces as well as possible and practical solutions to close the gap. Betsy McCaw, Chief Operating Officer of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, will discuss why talent matters to economic development in Indiana followed by Deborah Cummings, Principal and Senior Director of TEConomy Partners, LLC., presenting the findings of a 2016 report conducted with AgriNovus Indiana on Indiana’s agbiosciences workforce.  The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion of industry experts moderated by Beth Bechdol, President & CEO of AgriNovus Indiana:

  • Jay Akridge, Glenn W. Sample Dean of Agriculture, Purdue University
  • Audrey Grimm, Global Leader, Human Resources, Dow AgroSciences
  • Gary Reynolds, President, Reynolds Farm Equipment
  • Jonathan Weinzapfel, Chancellor, Ivy Tech Community College

Parking is available in the Chase Tower garage off of Pennsylvania Street or on the street level at parking meters.
